What goes through your mind when you hear that? Sounds insane right like why would a person walk in their grave while they’re very much alive. A family guy with no nemeses, loved by everyone, the type of guy who’s the life of the party, makes no sense, who could want him dead?
Ramon Sosa born Ramon sosa has been a fighter all his life, both in and out of the ring. Born on 1st June, 1967 in Puerto Rico but his family moved to Brooklyn, NY for a better life, where at only 7 years old he developed a huge interest for boxing. Ramon would train with his father and because of his genuine interest in it, he mastered it at a really early, he would compete in amateur fights and even went on to play professionally in Texas but because of poor management, he decided to choose a career in coaching others because he still wanted to be related to boxing in some way.
He was a nice humble guy, never fought anyone on the streets or anything, just a really good guy. He opened up a non profit organisation “Young Prospects Boxing” where he trained others. He earned the respect of a lot of young men and women who looked up to him. Mondu was one of them. In fact, Mondu was like a son to him, he even referred to Ramon as Pops because of how much influence he had on him.
Deceitful Encounter:
It all comes back to a hasty evening in 2007, Ramon and his friend went to a Mexican bar packed with Latinas, it had been a while since Ramon had dated someone since his divorce with his first wife in 2007, who he had three kids with, So he thought it was time to give love another chance now that his gym’s doing well, he thought it’s finally time to settle and so his wish came true that night when he set his eyes on a beautiful woman.
Her name was Maria de Lourdes Dantes, who also went by Lulu. He couldn’t stop staring at her, he was mesmerised by her, her dance and the way she carried herself. He was truly captivated. A moment later, she stepped on his toe with her 6 inch heels , he bent down and she apologized. Later she admitted it was on purpose which should’ve been the first red flag right? But she was so nice about it that nothing came out of his mouth except the words “ Can i have a dance” and they danced the night away. It sounds like something straight out of a fairytale, and it really was for a while, he could even remember the first song they danced to and it became their song. Lulu went home with him and from then everything was really perfect. They would wake up together, she would make him breakfast, support him in his work, basically she was always there with him. Although there were some red flags,.
Ramon ignored them and chose to focus on the good parts of the relationship because he felt bad about her situation of renewing her visa every 6 months. So they got married on March 15, 2009. On their wedding day, Lulu’s mom uttered the words, “She’s your trouble now,” which made Ramon really uncomfortable. Everything was great the first 3 years, it was like the honeymoon phase for 3 years straight.
In 2010, Ramon opened up a second gym and Lulu joined him as a personal trainer.
The murder plot:
It was a normal day at the gym in 2015 when Mundo, an amateur boxer, had been working out as usual, he had been going to the gym for the past few years. He overheard a conversation between two women about a hitman, which would prove very useful later on. But a question pops up, why was he eavesdropping? Because he heard Ramon’s name. He immediately got startled but he knew what he had to do. He kept listening to get as much information as he could. Suddenly the words “ No seriously, I know a guy who can chop someone up” come up and shivers run down his spine but he maintained his demeanour, He peeked through the door to see who it was that would plot against Ramon, The most beloved guy at the gym. It was his wife Lulu and Lulu’s daughter.
He thought to himself maybe he could do something to save his life. After the conversation ended, he went up to Lulu, asking, “Did I hear you right back there, something about chopping people up?”
Immediately she hesitates, then tries to manipulate Mundo into thinking she’s getting abused to get Mundo on her side. Mundo acted like he believed her allegations and volunteered to find a hitman to get her task finished , And guess what? Lulu fell in his trap and foolishly accepted the offer. It was all a ploy Mundo had made in order to protect Ramon because he could tell that Lulu was dead serious
Downhill:
It was 2012 and everything was going well for them, Their gym was doing well, averaging about 200 members a month.
Suddenly, greed got the best of Lulu and she wanted everything to herself. It was like a switch went off and suddenly Lulu had stopped her nice act and now she didn’t want be around his kids, she didn’t even want him to be around his own kids while her kids got all the privileges. Everything was falling apart for Ramon’s kids, they couldn’t spend time with their dad, but the worst of it was when they received the news of their dad’s marriage. Imagine not even being invited to your dad’s wedding. It was the breaking point for them. They felt alienated.
After the 3rd year, Lulu got her American citizenship and her behavior completely shifted towards Ramon. She acted like she didnt really need him anymore, Ramon’s worst fears were coming true. They started arguing a lot and now they were even living on different floors of the house. Lulu filed for divorce and asked for 50% of everything, that’s when Ramon realised what was actually going on. “It was all about the money. She knew how much I was worth dead”
Fast forward to 2015:
So here’s when Mundo’s loyalty comes into play. Here’s the twist, Mundo told Ramon what Lulu was planning, he also let him know that he was in his corner so he was ready to help in whatever way he needed
Ramon was caught by surprise because at the time they were still living at the same house and things were already tense. To top it off now he had to go back home to someone who wanted to kill him. Ramon started being more cautious now and carrying a gun with him wherever he went, even while sleeping, he’d keep his pistol under his pillow, i mean if I was living with someone who wanted to kill me I’d definitely be paranoid too.
Ramon told the police what had happened and the police were of no help, they said they couldn’t help him until they had some evidence because uptill now all they had was an angry wife’s rants, Ramon asked Mundo’s help to claim his innocence, because not only was Lulu telling people that Ramon was assaulting her and forcing herself on her, but now she was also ready to get him killed. I guess she really wanted that money, because even if the divorce didn’t go in her favour, she was going to own everything if Ramon was out of the equation totally.
The Sting:
Ramon took matters into his own hands, he launched a sting operation where he would buy 2 disposable phones for him and Mundo and record Mundo’s conversations with Lulu,Mundo would pretend to be the hitman on texts, little did Lulu know one of the phones was with Ramon the whole time. Lulu was ready to pay from the start and while negotiating she was ready to give his white truck and jewellery like watches and bracelets as a downpayment, Meanwhile things were going downhill for Ramon, Lulu and her kids made it seem like Ramon is assaulting them and they’re scared for their lives, they got a restraining order against Ramon and Ramon had to move out and stay away from Woodlands gym. But he was determined on exposing Lulu so much he didn’t really care about getting kicked from his house.
Mundo told Lulu the hitman has bought a 9-millimeter gun for 200 dollars so when they received the downpayment for the gun, they went to the police.
The police knew they had to play according to their old sting, they applauded how well they had done, now they needed to make Lulu believe things were on track, they set up a meeting with Lulu on July 20th, with a hitman who was actually an undercover agent, During the meeting Lulu withdrew cash from an atm and gave it to the hitman, now she had crossed a boundary and could be arrested but they had to wait and build such a case which would refute all her claims of Sosa being abusive towards her. The police explained the only option they had to Ramon, which made matters even more surprising for him, they said they had to take a picture of ramon dead. Obviously he was shocked,
which was understandable, but after they explained it was just makeup of a bullet wound, he agreed. Ramon had to lay with his hands behind his back, in a grave they dug to make it seem realistic for the photoshoot. Afterwards, the undercover agent met with Lulu and showed him a picture of Ramon’s dead body.
Lulu’s laughing to Ramon’s dead body shows how cold she actually is, i mean even if someone you dislike dies, there’s still some element of shock and sadness, but here u can see Lulu really doesn’t give a crap. Rather she makes jokes if hes really dead and then starts emoting to show her happiness, what kind of a sick freak does that? The kind of freak who puts out a target on her husband, that’s who.
The Arrest:
Next day, police went to the Woodlands gym to see Lulu, they ask her about Ramon’s whereabouts,
Here Lulu seems like she doesn’t really have a clue, she thinks she’s deceiving the police but she really had no idea what was actually going on because to her Ramon was dead and there was no way he’s coming back. Little did she know. The police let her go on before announcing her arrest, where she acts surprised. After a few months, after seeing all the evidence against her, she pleads guilty to solicitation of 2nd degree murder, because she knew she could get a life sentence which is what she really deserved.
Ramon had the best ending, he got everything back in the divorce, published his book “ I walked on my own Grave,” and, best of all, he forgave Lulu. I mean, this guy is as good as it gets, throughout it all, he stayed calm and poised; he chose to fight back with the truth even after all the assault claims, he never once hit her. Ramon has opened his heart to love again despite getting stabbed in the back by the woman he loved the most.
